Minna—Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, has admitted corruption in the Bar and Bench but promised to deal with the cankerworm headlong. President of NBA, Abubakar Mamood Balarabe, who spoke at the opening session of National Executive Council of the NBA in Minna, Niger State, yesterday, said the association was aware of the declining state of the profession but said it would continue to be the voice of the voiceless and protect the independence and integrity of the profesdion. He said: “We are conscious of the declining state of the legal profession, considering the challenges and myriad of problems we are facing, but NBA will not abdicate its responsibility. “We will continue to be the voice of the voiceless, we will speak for the judiciary and protect the independence and integrity of the legal profession, both the Bar and the Bench, just as we intend to fight and fish out the bad eggs in the system. “NBA will always cooperate with the Federal Government to fish out bad eggs but this should be done in accordance with due process and the rule of Law.” He said the NBA was aware of the cataloque of frivolous petitions levelled against judges by lawyers, adding that such petitions would be investigated. He added that serious actions awaited any lawyer found to have been involved in any sort of frivolous petition against any judge. The NBA president said allegations against his members were under investigation, assuring that if the allegations were established, the NBA would come out with disciplinary measures on those concerned. He called on Niger State Government to look into the state of Minna High Court towards improving the facilities there. In her address, the Chief Judge of Niger State, Justice Maria Sanda Dzokogi, said the judiciary was currently passing through a trying period, saying the Bench looked up to the Bar to be their voice and protect them. Deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Muhammad Ketso, who declared the council opened, on behalf of the state governor Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, called on the NBA to ensure that the rule of law was adhered to always, describing the rule of law as the tripod upon which the instruments of peace, unity and justice stood in defence of all Nigerians. He said the administration was taking systematic steps towards having efficient justice delivery system in the state, adding that efforts were being intensified towards adopting some critical prosecutorial documents on code of conduct for prosecutors, policy on prosecution and guidelines for prosecutors.

Kirinyaga West OCPD, Mohammed Huka, who confirmed the incident said police arrested the suspect Wednesday, November 16th, after receiving a tip off from villagers that the woman had killed her son.
"Officers apprehended the woman when she was taking the boy’s body to Karatina District Hospital mortuary. After interrogations, she confessed to being a devil worshipper and that her cult leader had asked her to sacrifice her son. This is the first incident of such nature in Kirinyaga County since I was posted here, said Mr Huka.The suspect will remain in police custody for 14 days while investigation into the matter continues, after which she will be arraigned in Baricho Law Court.

A really sweet older & very graceful white woman had an interaction after the performance on my way to the restroom & she said "wow, you were just magical up there, how do I not know you." She then went on to apologize to me & said I'm sorry (which I was confused about) so I asked why for clarity. She said "with what I just saw and felt you should be lots of awards at this place". I kindly smiled and said Thankyou with the most gratitude & honor
& formally introduced myself to her and went to shake her hand. She ended with "ohhhh trust me, I know who you are now.. You're unforgettable"! So I am just completely and utterly confused.

A Presidential spokeperson, Mal. Garba Shehu has dismissed suggestions that the masses will desert President Buhari in 2019 as unfounded and utterly ridiculous, and asserted that ordinary Nigerians are the backbone of his mandate and the only reason he ran for the office is to protect them against the rapacious merchants of corruption, who have held Nigeria back for decades. Reacting to allegations by a former CPC member, Alhaji Buba Galadima that President Buhari would be abandoned by the people in 2019, the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, said Galadima's calculation and prediction is utterly confused and misleading.
He said the masses are solidly behind Buhari because he is not stealing their money and their future, that the President's enormous goodwill remains ever strong because the people are convinced the President is acting in their best interest, despite the temporary unintended consequences of reforms.
President Muhammadu Buhari is far from isolation. He enjoys a very strategic relationship with ordinary Nigerians. This relationship is as solid a the proverbial rock. If Buba Galadima thinks that because he has no role and no job in this government that means president is isolated he is putting himself up to ridicule.
According to him, Galadima cannot speak for the masses as far as their steadfast loyalty to Buhari is concerned. While acknowledging that Galadima was entitled to advance his own political agenda, Malam Garba said Galadima didn't have the right to decide for ordinary voters.
Malam Garba Shehu recalled that Buba Galadima's disagreement with President Buhari was based on principle. He explained that President Buhari is committed to level playing field and would not want anyone to link his name to injustice.
The Presidential media aide said Galadima's disagreement with Buhari started in 2011 when a group within the party, orchestrated an organizational mess by which the CPC embarked on the imposition and substitution of candidates for cash payments at the expense of those duly and democratically elected.
He said Muhammadu Buhari was embarrassed by the incidents and complaints about the imposition and substitution of candidates, adding that he, as a democrat, would not suppress the will of the people to please selfish interests. Consequently he dispensed with the service, such as they are, of Buba Galadima; ran and won the 2015 Elections without them. According to the state’s local newspaper report, the bride and her husband-to-be had set up the wedding plan a month ahead of their big day, the groom was then, reportedly assigned to take part in the SWAT exercise competition of his force on his wedding day, and he accepted the arrangement.
The groom is said to be part of the special unit of local police department, in China.

21 year old charged for pouring acid on his18 year old girlfriend
According to Ghana web, the prosecutor’s case which was brought forward in court indicated that Oforiwaa who is a trader had been threatening to end their relationship over suspicious feeling, his boyfriend was cheating on her.
Speaking in court, prosecutor Gregory Yeboah told the court that on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at about 10pm; the pair had a serious misunderstanding after Donkor returned from work to meet no food in the house. At about 1am the next day, the prosecutor said Donkor went for the acid which he hid under a kiosk and poured it on the victim who was fast asleep.
After the tragic act, he ran out of the house as Oforiwaa woke up screaming for help before a witness in the case came to her aid and rushed her to Faith Hospital which after she was referred to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where is presently on admission.
According to the prosecutor, he also stated that Donkor rushed to Darkuman police station in Accra to make a quick report that someone had poured acid on his girlfriend, saying he suspected the witness in the case.
The witness was apprehended, but after proper investigations were put in a place, it was revealed that it was Donkor who committed the crime

Asaba—Delta Police Command has arrested 28 suspected teenage cultists operating in some public secondary schools in Asaba, in Delta, the state Police Commissioner, CP Zanna Ibrahim, revealed, weekend. He said that the teenage secret cult group was known as the Future Trigger Boys, adding that of the 28 suspects, 10 were students from Osadenis Grammar School, Asaba. The CP said the suspected cultists, aged between 13 and 16 years, were rounded up during school hours, following intelligence reports from members of the public. According to him, “these are children, who were sent to school to study but regrettably, they form cult group to terrorise their fellow students and the entire school. “They call themselves the Future Trigger Boys. We were able to arrest these ones, while many others are still on the run. “Since we arrested them, many of their parents have been on our neck.” The CP urged members of the public to continuously avail the command with valuable information that would help checkmate all forms of crimes in the society. One of the teenage suspected cultists, who is 13 years old and in JSS1, confessed his membership of the group. He said: “All of us are cultists. We are members of the Future Trigger Boys. I was introduced into the group in 2014 by my friend and our leader is one Ibrahim, who is currently at large.” He, however, said that he had left the group and had not been participating in its activities anymore.

How daily hygiene can prevent urinary tract infections
A 28 year old female starts complaining of severe lower back pain that started a day before. She’s also complaining of abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, and has a high fever. She has been urinating about 15 times a day but there is no pain while urinating. However, she was experiencing excruciating pain while urinating several times about 2 weeks ago but she took some Ibuprofen and that seemed to help alleviate the pain.
At first glance, from this lady’s symptoms, it almost seems as if this lady is having abdominal issues since she’s having abdominal pain along with nausea and vomiting. However, what stands out with her is that she has been urinating about 15 times daily. This is known as Urinary frequency. A Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is a common cause of frequent urination. Another finding that is worth mentioning is that she was experiencing excruciating pain while urinating about 2 weeks ago, so she took Ibuprofen to help with the pain. The painkillers just masked the underlying problem; it did not cure it.
Now, she is complaining of urinary frequency, severe abdominal pain and lower back pain, she can hardly move, looks very ill, having nausea and vomiting and has a high fever. These symptoms are a classical presentation of ACUTE PYELONEPHRITIS. This person is most likely suffering from Acute pyelonephritis (infection of the kidney) which is causing her severe lower back pain and the abdominal pain. This acute pyelonephritis is most likely due to untreated Urinary Tract Infection of which she showed symptoms of 2 weeks prior.
Urinary tract infections are usually ascending infections from bacteria that colonize the vaginal wall and these bacteria eventually get into the urethra. It travels upwards to infect the bladder; this is known as cystitis. If left untreated, the bacterial infection can go higher up the tract to infect the kidneys (pyelonephritis). Patients with Urinary Tract Infection usually present with urinary frequency, urinary urgency, pain on urination(dysuria). Though it can affect men and women, it more commonly affects young women.
Most UTIs are caused by E. coli. E. coli is a bacteria that is normally found in the intestines and it leaves the body through the anus during bowel movements. The distance between the urethra (urinary opening) and anus is very short in women so this makes it very easy for the bacteria to get in and once the E. coli gets into the urethra, it can cause an infection. Other less common causes of UTIS include anatomical defects of the urinary system. Pregnant women and people with diabetes are also at an increased risk of contracting UTIs due to suppressed immune function.
People that present with UTIs usually have classic symptoms; hence it is most times a clinical diagnosis made by the doctor. That is to say, that majority of people that present with such symptoms such as dysuria(painful urination), urinary frequency, urinary urgency most likely have a urinary tract infection. Your doctor might choose to do a Urine culture and/or Urinalysis just to make sure.
Since it is bacterial infection, antibiotics such as FLUROQUINOLONES taken for about 3-7 days are the drug of choice depending on the severity. Sometimes your doctor would go ahead and start treating even before Urine culture and Urinalysis test results are out. This is because we do not want the bacterial infection to progress to even more severe condition, so we start treatment immediately.
If the patient has symptoms such as abdominal pain, back pain (due to inflamed and infected kidneys) in addition to above symptoms, then the UTI has most likely progressed to pyelonephritis. In such scenarios, the patient would have to be admitted and given IV antibiotics till the patient starts feeling better then you can discharge and continue oral antibiotics for 2 weeks.
UTIs are very common infections and are easily treated with antibiotics. In fact, approximately, 60 % of people will experience a UTI at least once in their lifetime. It is very important to quickly identify and treat UTIs in order to avoid a more severe condition known as pyelonephritis which is when your kidneys are infected and inflamed. 20-30% of patients with untreated UTI will develop pyelonephritis so if you are experiencing such symptoms, please visit your nearest medical centre or talk to your doctor.HYGIENE also plays a major role in preventing UTIs. Here are some tips on how to remain UTI free.
-ALWAYS wipe from front to back after urinating. This will prevent germs from being transferred from anus to urinary opening. This is the #1 Rule. Please Don’t joke with it!
-AVOID taking prolonged bubble baths, because the water maybe contaminated and therefore, prolonged stay may allow the bacteria to reach urinary opening. So Please, Ladies, think twice before running yourself a hot bubble bath…. Please take a warm shower instead! Better safe than sorry.
-PLEASE don’t hold your urine for long periods at a time, if you have to urinate, please do so. Holding your urine will only give the bacteria a chance to multiply!
– DRINK plenty of fluids; and by fluids, I mean water…. Not soft drinks or juice concentrates! The only juice you are allowed to drink is Cranberry Juice. Water and cranberry help to flush out bacteria from the urinary tract.
-AVOID using scented vaginal products such as scented douches and sprays because they can cause UTIs and a host of other infections. Stay away from all these perfumed products designed for your intimate area. They cause more harm than good. Period!
-DIET: Avoid too much sugary foods as too much sugar decreases your body’s ability to fight infections.

The traditional ruler of Atani Community in Ogbaru Local Council, Anambra State, Igwe Augustine Ngoddy, has called on the state to utilise the opportunity provided by the Federal Government and World Bank, through the FADAMA Programme, to enhance rice cultivation and production in the state.
Ngoddy made the call yesterday, when a delegation from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the World Bank, and a team from Governor Willie Obiano, visited him in his palace, after inspecting some FADAMA projects, and inaugurating youth farm clusters and cooperative societies in the council.
The monarch stated that the Nigerian government can successfully tackle the economic recession ravaging the country with improved agricultural practices, and the FADAMA programme, which has made farming and other agricultural practices possible all year round.
Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbe, who was represented by his Senior Adviser, International Donor Partners, Auta Appeh, said in the next six years or less, Anambra, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Kogi and Sokoto states, would be major domestic producers of rice in the country.

“I Have Everything To Win The Ballon D’Or” – Ronaldo Says
After winning the Champions League and Euro 2016 in what he described as his best season, Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo has set his sight on the prestigious Ballon d’Or.
And Portugal captain believes he has done everything possible to win the 2016 edition.
The 31-year-old is among the favourites to claim France Football’s award for the world’s best player after a stellar 12 months for club and country.
The forward scored 51 goals in 48 matches in all competitions for Real Madrid last season, including 16 in 12 games as coach Zinedine Zidane’s side won the trophy for the second time in three years.
He led Portugal to their first major title at Euro 2016 championship scoring three times to help them reach the final, where they beat host France 1-0.
Ronaldo, who has been criticised for some of his performances this season struck a hat-trick as Madrid beat city rivals Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon on Saturday, prompting Zidane to claim that any debate over who should win the Ballon d’Or should now end.
And the former Manchester United player himself feels he could not have done any more to earn the prize following what he considers to have been the best season of his illustrious career.
He told Telefoot, “I’ve done everything for this season.
“We won the Champions League, I won the Euros with Portugal. The vote doesn’t depend on me and I don’t want to be obsessed with it.
“But if you ask me if I want to win the Ballon d’Or, I’d say yes. This year has been amazing for me, with all the trophies. It’s my best season, no doubt about that.”
The winner of the award will be voted for by a panel of journalists from across the world, and will be announced on the 13th of next month.

Basketmouth had lost her on Sep. 3rd 2016 after a brief illness.
This was what he wrote on the day his mother died:
"Last night my angel left me, my first love stopped breathing and it's the deepest pain I've ever felt. I love you for every sacrifice you made to make me the man I am today, I've loved you through the tough times. I've loved you through happier days and all I can say at this point is that I will love you forever. I will miss you mummy."
Today, Basketmouth's elder brother Godwin took to Instagram to announce the arrangements and date of their mum's burial.
Mrs Margaret Obioma Okpocha will be buried on friday 25th November 2016, May her soul rest in perfect peace.
