A fake lover bathes ex-girlfriend with acid in Lagos (photo)

A 25-year-old caterer, Rosemary Nnaife, who was
allegedly bathed with acid by her ex-lover in the
Lawanson, Surulere area of Lagos State, has
demanded the prosecution of the suspect, identified
only as Paul.
The Delta State indigene, whose face had been
scarred by the acid, said since the incident, Paul
had yet to be prosecuted.
The victim explained that she had dated Paul for
four years before the relationship ended due to
abuse and violence.
She said she got into another relationship, which did
not go down well with the suspect, who
allegedly began sending threat messages to her and
her new boyfriend.
The threat allegedly culminated in an acid bath after
she was tricked out of her residence in the
Abaranje, Ikotun area of the state.
Nnaife said she was rushed to the Lagos University
Teaching Hospital, Surulere, by sympathisers, while
Paul was arrested by policemen from the Itire
division.
She said although the Directorate of Public
Prosecutions ordered that the suspect be tried at
the Lagos State High Court, the case was still
pending.
She said,
“I dated Paul for four years and I loved him. But the
problem was that he was always beating me. He
also embarrassed me in the public, so I ended the
relationship.
“I got another boyfriend and moved on with my life.
But Paul was angry and he attacked me. He got my
new boyfriend’s number and threatened him. He
also threatened me. But I didn’t take the threats
seriously.
“Some days later, an unknown number called me
and when I picked it, it was a woman. She said she
wanted me to bake cakes for her and I should come
down to Surulere. We agreed to meet at Lawanson
bus stop.
“When I got to the bus stop, somebody touched my
shoulder from behind. When I turned around, I saw
Paul. He then poured the acid on me and ran away.”
She added that the matter was reported to the police
at the Itire division, and later transferred to the
State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence
Department, Yaba.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspect was arraigned
by the police at the Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrate’s
Court, where he was admitted to bail.
However, the case was said to have stalled.
Nnaife called for justice, saying she wanted the
suspect to pay damages and bear the cost of a
plastic surgery.
“He has been walking free, while I have been
scarred for life. I want him to pay for this. I need the
help of the government and the good people of
Nigeria,” she added.
The Director of the Lagos State Public Advice
Centre, Mrs. Tola Akinsanya, said the agency would
revive the case to ensure there was diligent
prosecution of the suspect. She said,
“The woman was allegedly bathed with acid by her
ex-boyfriend on June 3, 2015, and he was arrested
and taken to a magistrate’s court. When the DPP’s
advice was released, it ordered that the case should
be transferred to the high court.
“Although we are aware the case has been filed, it
has yet to be assigned to any court since last year.
We are working with the Lagos State Office of the
Public Defender to assemble a team of lawyers to
represent her. We must ensure that she gets
justice.”
Akinsanya explained that the agency would also
make effort to get support from the state ministry of
health for a plastic surgery for Nnaife.

Chelsea, Manchester City fined for Premier League game fracas

Chelsea have been fined £100,000 (about N50 million) and Manchester City must pay £35,000 (about N17.5m) after players from both teams clashed during their Premier League meeting at Etihad Stadium.

Tempers flared at the end of Chelsea’s 3-1 win earlier this month, after City’s Sergio Aguero was sent off for a tackle on David Luiz.

Aguero’s team-mate Fernandinho was also dismissed, after grabbing Cesc Fabregas as the two teams confronted each other.

Chelsea had previously been warned they could face a points deduction.

The Premier League leaders have been fined six times since February 2015 for failing to control their players.

The Blues were fined a record £375,000 (about N187.5m) —- reduced to £290,000 (about N145m) on appeal —- in the wake of an ill-tempered meeting with Tottenham in May.

This had forced the Football Association appeal board to warn that “the time cannot be too far distant when… the only proper sanction is a points deduction’’.

However, manager Antonio Conte laughed off the possibility of a points deduction on Sunday.

He had asked reporters if they were joking when asked if he thought the incident could harm the club’s league standing.

The last top-flight teams to be docked points for disciplinary issues were Manchester United and Arsenal, in the wake of a brawl at Old Trafford in October 1990.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola apologised for his team’s part in the confrontation on Dec. 3.

Aguero, whose dismissal was his second for violent conduct this season, is banned for four games, while Fernandinho is serving a three-game suspension.

Tips!! How To Get More Storage Space On Your Android Device (Must Read!!)

The easiest way to add storage to your Android phone or tablet is with a microSD card, even if it doesn’t support one.

Assuming it does, when buying a microSD card for your phone or tablet, you should first check the manufacturer’s specification or reviews of that device to see what type of cards it will accept.

Many budget phones, for example, will accept only 32GB, while higher-end devices typically handle 128GB. You certainly don’t want to pay out for a 128GB card only to find it won’t work in your phone.

You will find manufacturers offer various types of microSD card, with some claiming to be faster or more secure than others are. For simple storage of your files any microSD card will do, but note that fakes can be found online, so be wary of anything too cheap or brands you haven’t come across before.

If your phone or tablet doesn’t natively support microSD, it’s easy to attach one to make use of on an ad-hoc basis using a microSD card reader, which connects to your phone’s Micro-USB port.

Buhari Set To Launch New App For Nigerians - Check it out!!!!

Will you download buhari App that will always keep
you updated on any information gap between the
government and the people (This is funny as if we
don't have this type of applications already) and
the name of the application is called Federal
Government Information App (FGIAPP) a.k.a Buhari
App which is to keep Nigerians updated on
activities of the Buhari-led administration.
Wait, the launch of this buhari Apps keep bringing
many questions on my mind like, is this what
Nigerians need at the moment or in this hard time
recession? Is this the schools, jobs, infrastructure
and health cares? An app is not the solution to this
famine.
So earlier this week, minister of information, Alhaji
Lai Mohammed announced that the government
will be releasing an App which was revealed with
Resident Information Officers (RIOs) in the
ministry. So this App will be launched in Abuja on
the 15th of december, 2016 and is developed by
Olawole Falope.
Is it helpful? What do you have to say about this?
Will you download the buhari App? Do you think
this is the right thing for buhari to release for
Nigerians? Do you think this project will succeed?

Attention People Who Eat Dog Meat : See The 3 Major Health Concerns You Should Know About

Although the concept of eating dog meat is
completely unheard of in the U.S., in other parts
of the world, it is regarded just the same as
eating chicken or cow. In Vietnam, for example,
approximately five million dogs are killed every
year for meat, other places dog meat is eaten
include Europe, Russia, Africa, Latin America,
China, the Philippines, and South Korea.
While the suffering of these animals is
undeniable, there are also major human health
concerns arising from the consumption of dog.
The issues highlighted are critical concerns that
could have a negative impact on human health if
they are not addressed by ending the
consumption of dog meat.

1. Rabies
One of the largest dangers of dog meat is the
spread of rabies to both animals and people.
According to the Center for Disease Control’s
records, only 10 people have ever survived this
horrific disease. This is clearly a major concern
when such a dangerous and deadly disease can
be so easily spread.

2. Other Diseases
There are many other diseases and infections
associated with dog meat that can endanger
human health. Possible infections include
parasites such as E. Coli 107 and salmonella.
There is also a danger that bacterial infections
like anthrax, brucellosis, hepatitis, and
leptospirosis can be spread through the meat to
people. The bacteria associated with Cholera is
also easily spread and propagated through the
process of mass transporting and slaughtering
dogs for consumption. Trichinellosis is a
zoonotic parasite that can be easily transmitted
from dogs to humans through infected meat
consumption. Once these parasites are in the
human body, they can cause inflammation in
blood vessels which leads to hemorrhaging in
the nail beds and eyes, in addition to severe
muscle weakness. If left untreated, trichinellosis
can be fatal.

3. Antibiotic Resistance
There are many parallels to be found between
dog meat farms and factory farms in America,
unfortunately, antibiotic resistance is one of
them. According to Change for Animals
Foundation, “On dog farms, large numbers of
dogs are living in close confinement, under
stressful conditions, and are usually being fed
insufficient, poor quality food. These factors
result in increased levels of infectious disease
and high mortality rates. In an effort to try to
control the spread of disease and maximize
productivity, there is evidence of farmers
resorting to the indiscriminate overuse of
antibiotics and vaccines.”

Health Tips!!! How You Can Prevent Appollo – According To Expert

A medical expert in Ilorin, Dr Misbau Lawal, has
advised people to imbibe the habit of regular
hand washing to avoid contracting viral and
bacterial infection of the eye currently
spreading.

The infection, known as ‘conjunctivitis’ in
medical parlance and ‘appollo’ in local parlance,
is inflammation of the conjunctiva, a thin, filmy
membrane that covers the white portion of the
eyes.
According to Lawal, the conjunctiva, which
produces mucous to coat and lubricate the
surface of the eye, contains fine blood vessels
that can be seen on close inspection.
Lawal advised people to keep their hands away
from the eyes and thoroughly wash hands
before and after applying eye medications on
infected children.
He explained that conjunctivitis was a common
eye problem that affected people of all age
groups and one of the most common eye
infections in children.
The physician added that the most common
cause of irritation of the eye layer was due to
allergies in the environment, which included air
pollution, smoke, pollen from trees and grass.
He also explained that when the conjunctiva
became irritated or inflamed, the blood vessels,
which supplied it, enlarged and became more
prominent, causing the eye to turn red.
According to him, symptoms include pinkness or
redness in the eye red, inflamed inner eyelids,
blurred vision, sandy or scratchy feeling in the
eye, pus, mucous, or watery discharge from the
eye.
“People who work in health care settings or with
children, have a high risk of exposure to the
viruses that can cause viral conjunctivitis,” he
warned.
He also warned against sharing of towels,
washcloth, cosmetics, or eye-drops with others,
advising those infected to seek treatment
promptly.
The expert also advised that infected small
children, who may forget these precautions, be
kept away from school, camp, and the
swimming pool, until their condition was cured.
The outbreak is prevalent among children who
mostly get infected from schools.
In some of the hospital visited in Ilorin
metropolis, many children with symptoms of
‘apollo’, were brought for medical treatment.

“I Would Have Won More Ballon D’Or If Messi Was My Teammate” – C. Ronaldo Opens Up

Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo has
revealed that he might have won the most
prestigious individual award more than his rival,
Lionel Messi if both of them had played in the
same team.

Cristiano Ronaldo has told France Football he
believes he might have won the Ballon d’Or more
times than Lionel Messi if they had played on the
same team, but described his rival as “a great
player.”
Barcelona forward Messi, 29, came second to
Ronaldo, 31, in the 2016 vote, but has five
Ballons d’Or to the Real Madrid man’s four.
Portugal captain Ronaldo polled a massive 745
points over 400 more than Messi in this year’s
poll, which canvassed a handpicked panel of
journalists worldwide.
On whether he would have claimed the award
more times had they played on the same side,
Ronaldo said: “It’s a difficult question. I don’t
know.
“It would be interesting to see both of us in the
same team. I think great players should play
together. So if we were in the same team, I think
I would have more than him, but he wouldn’t be
far off.
“Everyone knows Messi is a great player. He’s
won five Ballons d’Or.”
He said he was hopeful he would draw level with
the Argentine star’s tally in 2017, saying: “I’m
going to try. I’ll be in the fight, as always, but my
objective now is to win the Club World Cup, an
important trophy.
“After that, to win La Liga. It’s a title that Real
wants to win. And if possible, the Champions
League again and the Copa del Rey. I always
want to win everything.”
Though Madrid missed out on the league title
despite his 35 goals in 36 league games,
Ronaldo won the Champions League as well as
Euro 2016 with Portugal.

Betting tips>>>>
Chelsea Win and Over 2.5
Sunderland Home Score and Over 1.5
lt also come too soon for Fabio
Borini (groin) and Jack Rodwell (hamstring)

Team News
Chelsea overcame a tough test
against West Brom on Sunday, but the Blues will
now be looking to continue their remarkable
winning run when they travel to take on rock-
bottom Sunderland on Wednesday.
The Baggies made life difficult for Chelsea at
Stamford Bridge, but Diego Costa’s 12th goal of
the season ensured that Antonio Conte’s men
still sit three points clear at the top of the league
standings with a midweek test against
Sunderland to come.
David Moyes’ side languish in 20th place in the
table after they were beaten 3-0 by fellow
strugglers Swansea on Saturday, and it will
undoubtedly be a big ask for the team to try and
secure a win over a rampant Chelsea side, who
have now won nine straight games.

Conte will put Chelsea captain John Terry
through a late fitness test after the defender
missed the win over West Brom with a muscular
injury.
Sunderland , meanwhile, will be without long-
term absentees Duncan Watmore (knee), who is
out for the rest of the season, and Lee
Cattermole (hip injury) while Paddy McNair
remains out with a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Channelstv reveals true story behind boy buried alive inside walls in Ondo

Last week, the report of a boy said to have been
sealed in the wall of a house in Ondo town in
western Nigeria spread.
After that story was told on online news platforms
but without details, rumours have been circulating
about the reality of the occurrence.
To get the true picture of the incident, Channels
Television crew visited the town in Ondo State and
was at the very house where the incident
happened.
A bungalow located on 3B Akinfemisoye Street,
Oduduwa Area in New Town, Ondo city in Ondo
West Local Government Area of Ondo State was
where the boy was found.
The boy is said to have fallen between the walls of
a building and a fence.
According to the information gathered, the owner
of the house had travelled out of the country
several years ago. But the building at the back is
being inhabited by tenants who are students of the
Adeyemi College of Education in the town.
Charity Adebayo is one of the students living in the
compound. She told Channels Television that the
boy, who is suspected to be mentally deranged,
fell into the little space between the walls of the
house and a food canteen next to it.
“We started hearing the boy saying
meaningless things from inside the wall,”
she said.
Charity explained that at daybreak, people came
and broke the fence and brought him out.
According to her, the grandmother of the boy
came to pick him.
Felicia Olaniyi, who operates the food canteen at
the other side, gave her own account of the story
in Yoruba language.
“The boy was said to have escaped from
his grandmother one evening while she
was taking him to a church for healing.
“The boy must have fallen in-between the
walls of the two buildings,” she said.
According to her, after they heard the voice of the
boy in the wall, it attracted people’s attention and
a ladder was brought. “He was discovered in the
space and the wall was broken,” she explained.
She said the residents also alerted the police
before the boy was brought out and also
corroborated Charity’s claims that he was taken
away by his grandmother.
Michael Gbala, a medical practitioner, who also
lives in the neighbourhood told Channels
Television that he learnt that the boy was mentally
deranged.
Determined to get to the root of the matter and
more revelations, Channels Television crew
proceeded to the church where the boy was taken
to by his grandmother for healing, overseen by an
old woman,
Prophetess Dorcas Adebayo said the boy’s
grandmother took him away from her church
She explained in Yoruba language that the
grandmother brought the boy for healing but later
came back to take him away.
She believes the boy must have, in a bid to
escaped from the grandmother after she took him
away from the church, fallen into the wall.
The old prophetess said she did not know the
boy’s whereabouts ever since.
A little boy also gave his account of the story,
saying the boy had been taken to the State
Specialist Hospital in town.
At the hospital sources said that the boy’s name is
Aduragbemi Saka and that he was admitted but
had since been discharged.
Channels Television, however, got to know the
address of the boy and his grandmother.
On getting to the house, the one storey building
was locked with a padlock.
The residents of the street refused to speak to
reporters, but however said that they knew the
boy but had not been seen him for a long time.
