I Was Asked To Kill My Own Son – Kogi Governor’s Wife

Wife of Kogi State governor and Founder of Hayat Foundation, Mrs. Amina Bello, has suggested that government should enforce the provision of wheelchairs for physically challenged children and “shut down any school which discriminates against them.”
She told journalists in Abuja how close friends and some family members mocked her for having a son who has cerebral palsy.
Mrs. Bello said she was advised to inject her son with a lethal substance to end his life.
She said, “Schools which discriminate against children who are living with physical and developmental challenges should be shut down. Before you set up a school, it must be accessible to these children with special needs. You must have special teachers or therapists in every class and of course you should be certified fit to open a school for special needs children.
“There is also the stigma which starts from your immediate environment. People will be whispering when a child with special needs or his parents are around. This has made a lot of parents to live in depression. This is the reason why some parents choose to live in denial and lock up such children. I was advised to inject my son with harmful substance and some people advised me to take him to the village.”
The foundation, she said, will establish an institute that will focus on severe cases of cerebral palsy and open a training centre for behavioural and occupational therapists.

Is It True that Heading Football Increases Risk Of Brain Damage In Footballers? See FIFA Answer

The Federation of International Football Association has responded to a report that footballers stand the risk of brain disease for consistently heading the ball.
FIFA insisted Thursday there is no conclusive proof that heading a ball causes an increased risk of brain disease, after the release of a study on footballers who died from dementia, reports AFP.
“To our very best knowledge, there is currently no true evidence of the negative effect of heading or other sub-concussive blows,” football’s world body said in response to calls by British neurological experts for greater research.
“Results from studies on active and former professional football players in relation to brain function are inconclusive,” a spokesman said in a statement.
However, the spokesman acknowledged that professional players are “more exposed to all football activities including heading from early childhood than recreational players.”
But FIFA said: “Fortunately, football (soccer) does not belong to the high-risk sports for brain and head injuries.”
A British study had earlier revealed that professional footballers are at heightened risk of developing a brain disease that can cause dementia and is usually found in boxers and American football players, which FIFA said is not true.
The study, published in the Acta Neuropathologica journal, looked at 14 retired footballers with dementia who started playing football and heading the ball in childhood or early teens.
Post-mortem exams on six of the players found that four showed signs of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), far in excess of the average rate of 12 percent found in the general population.
It is the first time CTE has been confirmed in a study involving ex-football players.
“The findings of our study show a potential link between playing football and CTE,” lead researcher Helen Ling, from University College London’s Institute of Neurology, told AFP.
“Large-scale study is needed and cooperation from professional bodies such as the FA (Football Association) and FIFA will be required,” she said.
All of the ex-players involved had been referred to a psychiatry service in Swansea, Wales between 1980 and 2010. Twelve of the 14 died with advanced dementia.
While giving its own report, FIFA said it has been “actively following the issue of head and brain injuries” for more than 15 years including publishing scientific studies with international sports federations and research groups.
FIFA insisted that a change in its rules has tackled the issue. It said rule changes toughening sanctions for elbow to the head blows and introducing a head injury protocol in 2014 had cut head injury numbers.
“FIFA will continue to monitor the situation of head injuries, maintaining constant contact with current and on-going studies regarding long-term neurocognitive changes, both in male and female football players,” the spokesman said declaring the health of players to be “a top priority in developing the game.”

I Am Not That Fluent In English – Toyin Aimakhu (Video)

Nollywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu says her understanding of the English Language is not as fluent as her grasp of Yoruba.
The actress made the disclosure in an interview when she launched her YouTube Channel, ToyinAbrahamTV, saying she sold plantain chips as a kid.
“I can speak Yoruba very well and I can speak English small small. Then I can try to talk like a Calabar girl. When I look at my fans, I wonder what I did to deserve such fans, they are like my family now. I can speak Yoruba well, I understand English but not too well,” she said.
“I have been waiting to share my childhood with people. I grew up from a poor background, we were poor physically not spiritually. I used to sell Ipekere, known as plantain chips in English, in traffic.
“Years back, a friend that we used to hawk together died. We were hawking and she got crushed by a bus but that didn’t stop me from going back to sell a week later because there was nothing we were going to eat.”
Speaking further she said, “There’s nothing I don’t like about myself but I have one bad habit; I love picking my nose. I am getting over it, my team is working on me.
“I want to say thank you to Aunty Omoni Oboli for believing in me and believing in my talent. I noticed that after Okafor’s Law big things started coming my way so Okafor’s Law and Aunty Omoni helped my brand.”

JAMB Set To Announce Sale Of 2017 UTME Form, Expects 1.7 Million Candidates

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it would soon commence the sale of the application form for the 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The announcement was made on Tuesday by its Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, while fielding questions from journalists at the Information and Communication Technology Retreat in Abeokuta, Ogun.
Mr. Oloyede also disclosed that about 1.7 million candidates are expected to sit for the 2017 Computer Based Test (CBT) across the country, adding that they were also increasing the capacity of the CBT centres to maximise their effectiveness to examine more candidates within a given date.
He said: “What we are doing appears to be suitable to majority of our stakeholders. It is a surprise to us that we are apprehensive of what we wanted to do that maybe we are going to create problem. We are more confident to go along with the sale of the form for 2017 UTME examination.
“I believed that Nigeria is ripe for this. Nigeria is more advanced than some of these countries. At least, we have three or four countries that are observing our examination and they want to go the way of the conduct of the examination.
“We are expecting 1.7 million candidates and we want to make sure we satisfy these candidates within a week or there about. That is why we are increasing the capacity of the Computer Based Test centres to be able to examine more candidates within a given date.
“If we are talking about 1.5 million candidates, it means that in a given day about 60,000 or 70,000 candidates will take the examination.
“We have invited stakeholders to critique the process because we don’t want to go in the wrong direction. We are creating some ICT facilities and we want our stakeholders, prospective candidates, respected scholars, institutions, civil societies to come together and critique what we are doing, so that we can be sure, before we go too far in a wrong direction.
“This is with a view of harvesting good ideas that could improve what we are doing. We thought we are coming here to get dismantled, all we have put together, but what we are having are cheers that we can do it this way, or amend it that way.
“I must be frank with you, I cannot promise hitch free examination because we are testing certain things. We are changing certain things. We want to question the status quo and of course, we expect a fight back by interest that will be trampled upon.
“We are going to be as sincere as possible in the direction we are going. We are going to be as flexible as humanly possible. We are not promising hitch free examination.
“We envisaged that there will be hitches here and there, but they will not be insurmountable. Rather than promising the nation hitch free examination, we will be promising a direction we will all be pleased with.
“Initially there might be hiccups and of course one would not have been appointed if it is routine. I believe that I have been given a very difficult job and that is why I’m promising that it will be all smooth.”
Mr. Oloyede also said that JAMB would soon begin the sale of forms for the 2017 UTME.
NAN reports that 1,561,443 candidates sat for the UTME in 2016.

4 Foods With More Calcium Than A Glass Of Milk You Should Eat

According to this interesting article by Women’sHealth, after considering the importance of calcium to the body and formation of bone, here are 4 foods that contain a large amount of calcium.
1. Salmon
One six-ounce serving of fresh salmon offers 340 milligrams of calcium, while a five-ounce serving of canned salmon has 350 milligrams (the bones in the canned stuff pack in more calcium). An excellent source of omega-3 fats, salmon helps keep your heart healthy and prevents inflammation. It’s also a great source of vitamin D, which your body needs in order to fully absorb calcium. Plus you’ll down 36 grams of protein per six-ounce serving, too. “You can find salmon on nearly every restaurant menu, too, so it’s easy to get your fill,” says Zeitlin. Eating at home? Grill it and pair it with Brussels sprouts, poach it and serve it on top of sautéed greens, or use canned salmon as a simple salad topper. Love sushi? Seaweed offers an additional calcium bump of 17 milligrams per two tablespoons.
2. Oats Meal with Soya Milk
A half cup of dry plain oats will give you 200 milligrams of calcium. Even better, the four grams of whole-grain fiber fills you up and keeps things moving through your digestive system, helping to lower your cholesterol and support your heart and gut health. Oats are also rich in B vitamins, which aid your metabolism by helping your body to convert food into energy. Cook your oatmeal with a cup of almond milk for another 300 to 400 milligrams of calcium. And for added crunch, flavor, and another 36 milligrams, top with two tablespoons of almonds.
3. Sardines
One tiny three-ounce serving packs 370 milligrams of calcium. And, like all fish, sardines are also a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin D. “I like to grill them and throw them on top of a salad,” says Zeitlin. Make a mock Caesar salad by chopping them and mixing with three tablespoons of olive oil, one tablespoon of vinegar, and a pinch of salt and pepper, then tossing with calcium-rich dark leafy greens. Or add them into a stir-fry with spinach, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes.
4. Chickpeas
This versatile superfood yields 315 milligrams of calcium in one-and-a-half cups—plus about 30 grams of filling fiber and 10 grams of protein. Drizzle them in olive oil and add a pinch of salt, then roast ‘em up. Eat them alone as a snack, or use as a topper on salads, soups, or stews. You can also blend chickpeas half and half with white beans (which have 190 milligrams of calcium in one cup) to make a white-bean soup.

Toast::: Rumour Has that because of domestic violence from you that your wife moved out with your son?
Churchill ::: I wonder where they got such gist from? I don’t believe my wife will say that, besides I frown against such even my foundation preach against domestic violence in some of our charity awareness campaigns. It is obvious that all these channelled attacks are targeted to drag my image and what I believe in to the mud. Well, the truth is that I have never raised my hands against my wife. I have evidence of CCTV Cameras in my mums house when this happened. It can be replayed if you what us to go that far.

I truly, should not be granting this interview if this is all about my family. Am very optimistic that the family will unite together for King Andrea birthday even though channels to reach my wife is temporarily off.

Toast::: How Do You perceived all these happening in your family?
Churchill ::: I see nothing in it, it’s a phase of life. Since it does not affect my cheques and savings. But I truly want to call on bloggers or on social media addicts to verify facts before assuming. Every marriage has good and bad moments, it’s just unfortunate that I recently discovered that the alledged marriage instability is making headlines on some media platforms. Please Tonto Dikeh fans and well wishers take it easy on her, guess she is still adjusting to motherhood. With time, it will be well.

Toast::: The news had it that your son owns his own company Kindred Realtors, a real estate firm, don’t you think his is too young?

Toast::: Back To Your Projects, the Big Church Foundation fearlessly stormed war ravaged Southern Kaduna to provide Aid- the KADA massacre?
Churchill ::: Well, To God be the grace, we went, we touched life and we came back inspite of the Killings. It was a sad experience, they needed food, shelter, medications, (sobs). I just Thank God, many of them smiled with our presence.

Toast::: Your Foundation has bagged some Major awards including West Africa Philanthropy Award, how do you feel?
Churchill ::: Every award is appreciated. No one is bigger than the other. We feel humbled to be recognised by several brands. It’s not our making but God. It’s exciting when you touch lives and you are remembered.

Toast::: Which Projects is Big Foundation Up to Now?
Churchill :::This will be a long and busy year. We have lines of charity projects, peace events, Summits and project sponsorships with visible impacts. Our team is putting everything in place, but will let it out soon. But we will amongst other things empower 36,000 youths through the Big Church Foundation empowerment scheme. Toast:::You bagged a Doctorate Honours from Republic of Benin University, so which do you prefer to be addressed? Ambassador or Dr?
Churchill :::Well, it’s not about the title, if my name is attached to any title you call me, I will answer. Even without title. *smiles*
